Be careful in this heat!
The forecast for this coming weekend (and continuing into Monday) is for potential triple digit temperatures in the lowlands. So just make sure to wear your sunscreen, take it easy, get an early start if possible and most importantly, stay hydrated! I am heading up to the Buckhorns tomorrow morning for a few days. Hopefully the altitude will improve the temperature and my attitude. So I will be disconnected for a few days (not able to respond to emails). We’ve had a bumpy few weeks with Mailchimp. It seems like a number of Comcast and Wavecable folks have not been receiving the weekly hiking notice. Sorry for that. The best solution seems to be to add me to your contact list in Comcast or Wavecable. Of course, if you aren’t getting the weekly notices, you won’t likely see this. Ah well. Here is what is planned for Monday: Walkers: The Walkers will walk the south end of the Larry Scott Trail. They will carpool in Poulsbo at the North Viking Park & Ride (in the very back), departing at 9:30amormeet at the Larry Scott Milo-Curry Trailhead at 144 Milo Curry Rd, Port Townsend, WA 98368 (off of S Discovery Road) for a start at about 10:15am. Hikers: The Hikers will hike Tubal Cain with possible destinations of Tull Canyon (site of plane crash) or hiking toward Buckhorn Lake exit. The road in place has deep potholes. The hikers will depart Poulsbo at 7 am. REMEMBER TO PUT YOUR BLUE MONDAY HIKER CARD ON THE DASHBOARD so no car/hikers are left behind. Mountain Goats: The Goats will ascend Tunnel Creek, hoping for clear skies and beautiful views from 50/50 and Valhalla, departing the Poulsbo P&R at 7am. Note the early start.
