For those of you who like to hike at Port Gamble Heritage Park, you might want to get reacquainted with the Babcock Trail. I've just spent the last few weeks reviving it so it is passable again. It is the northern most trail in the Port Gamble area. It winds around the side and back of the farm where you can sometimes catch glimpses of the longhorn cattle. It starts on the 1100 road and ends on the uplands on the 1340 road. A nice loop would be to take Tessa's trail back down to 1100 or you can continue on the 1300 road and see where they are working on the new bike park. You can access it by parking at the Airfield/Uplands or the Bay View parking areas. The Airfield area is surrounded by good blackberry picking. Wear your waterproof footwear. Babcock has a swampy area that makes this trail unusable most of the year (but please feel free to improve it). Walkers: The Walkers will hike North Kitsap Heritage Park near Kingston. They will carpool from the North Viking Poulsbo Park & Ride (in the very back) at 9:30 or meet at the trailhead (address: Miller Bay Rd NE, Kingston, WA 98346) for 10am start. Hikers: The Hikers will hike Mount Walker. They will depart from the Poulsbo Viking Park & Ride at 8am. Mountain Goats: The Hikers will hike Upper Dungeness to either Boulder Shelter or Heather Creek. They will depart from the Poulsbo Viking Park & Ride at 8am.
