Hope for May
I am reminded of the many car trips we had as kids. My mom & dad in the front seat, driving & chatting. We four kids antsy in the back, touching each other and constantly asking "Are we there yet?"
Well, we aren't there yet, but Gov. Inslee gave us some some hopeful clues in this TV address this week. He said that restarting our economy would be like turning a dial, not flipping a switch. And specifically mentioned the that "we can begin to take part in more outdoor activity." Now maybe I am just an optimist, but that sounds like a chance to hike more, maybe even before May 4th. (editor's note: yeah, wishful thinking)
So here is a question: What do YOU people think?
When and how should we start to hike again?
Can we hike and still practice appropriate social distancing?
Would you join a hike?
Carpool with a group of people that you know?
Should we start with more hikes on more days (for smaller groups)?
Where would you like to take your next Monday hike?
A few random notes: Anita reports that the Dose is a good hike with no traffic or restrictions. Laurie says the NK Heritage trails are open, but parking lots are closed. I went up Notch Pass and only saw one other person. It was lovely. A number of folks have begun kayaking with the good weather. And the trillium are in bloom. Until then stay healthy, stay safe and keep smiling!
