And don’t worry, we will get back to “normal business” with hiking notices tomorrow as usual. But today I have an announcement and a special request. As you know, life has been interesting (and often tedious) over the last 18 months. We’ve made it through what will hopefully be the worst of the COVID pandemic (still worried about those variants, though). One of the threads keeping our community connected has been this weekly hiking notice, which really wasn’t about hiking all that much. Some of you have asked if I was going to “do anything” with those notes. Well guess what: I did! I’ve compiled them into a blog on the website www.blogger.com with the title Kitsap Monday Hikers. You will find all the weekly notes there and John has all the Hiker & Goats notes saved on his computer. We will work to get them posted as well. Formatting is an issue on the blog, so accept my apologies for the messiness. Additionally, I’ve linked the blog to a cloud application, Into Real Pages. This app allows creation of a printed hardcover bound book of our notes! I’ve spent the last few weeks editing and formatting in this app and am pretty happy with the result. But there is much more of the story to tell: your contributions. We talked about this at the parking lot yesterday morning. Sandy has volunteered to write a blessing for the book. If you feel inspired, please help us document our journey by jotting down how this past year has impacted you and made thing better, worse or just different. None of us are authors, do don’t be anxious or bashful. I think the end result will be insightful and beautiful. Also, please let me know if you are interested in a copy of the final product. Printing one book is kind of costly, but the publisher tells me we can get a substantial discount with a larger order. Just remember: this is an amateur adventure. We aren’t going to publish this outside the group and nobody (other than the people who run the cloud application) will make any money off the book. Mark
