A Very Berry Journey!

We're back

As I mentioned last week Sandy, Laurie, Dave & I headed out on a five day adventure on Sunday through hiking from Graves Creek to the Dosewallips washout. We covered 45.2 miles through some of the most amazing wilderness any of us have seen.

Day 1 we hiked from Graves Creek to O'Neil Campground. Dave did the Enchanted Valley hike two weeks ago and counted 55 fallen logs that required crossing. Our Forest Rangers have been busy: we only crossed a handful.

Day 2 we made it to Enchanted Valley which is, well, Enchanting! The weather was warm but spectacular. The chalet was surrounded by waterfalls, even in July.

Day 3 was our big day: 3300 feet of elevation gain to Anderson Pass, then Anderson Glacier and then another 1800 feet of descent to Honeymoon Meadows in the Dose. We earned our views of the glacier & slept well that night.

Days 4 & 5 we "moseyed down the Dose." The upper Dose is as wild as anywhere in the Olympics and just beautiful. Our lunches included wild huckleberries, salmonberries, strawberries, blackberries and thimbleberries (thus the name of our adventure). Here are a few pictures. I will work on a Goat's Notes soon. Take care & stay safe,

Mark
