Yes, I mean it! Let's count our blessings
So, I will admit to occasionally feeling grumpy during these difficult times. My plans (hopes) to tackle the Wonderland Trail in 2020 are likely a bust. The backpacking trip along the Olympic Coast didn't happen. I may even be getting tired of Uno, SkipBo, Five Crowns & Yahtzee every evening. And don't get me started about Netflix saturation!
But I talked with my uncle who lives in Beaumont, TX yesterday for his birthday. He and his wife have been sheltering in place as have we. Except that none of his neighbors are joining in. And it is so hot, humid & mosquito infested that taking the dog for a walk isn't pleasant. Forget about a hike. So he ventured to a gym to get on an elliptical. My uncle was the only person wearing a mask.
Meanwhile, here in Kitsap County.... Bella & I go for daily walks. I wear a mask. She doesn't. I crossed paths with Kimberly on the Tin Mine Trail Friday. The rhodies are ON FIRE at Green Mountain now. Go! A new resident, Tom & I chatted (at a safe distance) at Mount Walker on Monday. He is now on the weekly mailer. Robyn made it to Flapjack Lakes! And Phase 2 is likely to arrive soon.
A little news from the National Forest & ONP: Dispersed camping is now allowed in the National Forest. Staircase, Crescent, Sol Duc, Quinault are open for day use in ONP! So let's keep on chugging along and flatten the curve. Take time to savor the joy of living here. Find a trail if you feel good about it. And stay safe,
