No really, I mean it
This isn't the Thanksgiving any of us would wish for but there are plenty of reasons to be thankful. We live here, not by accident of course. Still, it is a magical place. As best as I can tell, we as a group are still mostly healthy. We are part of a community. We can still (even while braving the wet) get outside and enjoy Nature.
I was fortunate enough to have two magical hikes this past week! First, Paul & Priscilla took me to a completely new trail: Lake Anderson and Tamawonas Rock. Some of the Hikers went there earlier this year. We took note and went ourselves. What a delight! We hiked about 6.5 miles around the lake and to the rocks, which are a Native American sacred site. Total elevation gain was about 600 feet. You can get there quicker from a different road end. The trailhead is near Chimicum with easy access. Add this to the fall/winter inventory.
Then on Monday I was blessed enough to participate in another novel hiking experience! Dave & Kristi got married!!!! At Lena Lake. With Sandy officiating. I brought bubbly and Laurie brought oatmeal cookies. Woo hoo!
Now I've celebrated two 80th birthdays, met a baby and a witnessed a wedding on a Monday hike. See, we DO have reasons for gratitude.
On a more serious note, if you choose to expand your bubble this week (and I completely understand how it is a personal choice and the emotional tug of Thanksgiving) please be considerate of your fellow hikers and community. Let people know before you interact with them and take a break from any informal group hikes for the next few weeks. Thank you all!
