Good morning everyone, We are so fortunate to live on this side of the water that we often forget how wonderous the rest of the state can be. Ten of the Goats got the opportunity to experience that beauty first hand last week on a mid-week “larch march” to Lake Ingalls. The hike isn’t particularly long, but there are a few dodgy stretches where you have to hop over or around rocks, ad cool weather meant a bit of ice on the trail in the morning. But oh my, the larches were resplendent! Here is what is planned for the coming Monday: Walkers: The Walkers will hike Banner Forest Heritage Park in Port Orchard. They will carpool at the Kitsap Mall (Silverdale Way side near Wild Wings), departing at 9:30 or meet at the trailhead (address: 6451 Banner Rd SE, Port Orchard, WA, 98367) at around10am. Limited Parking Spaces. Hikers: The Hikers will hike the North Fork of the Skokomish (Staircase). They will depart from two locations: Silverdale Mall at 8:00 am (enter through main entrance from Silverdale Way, turn left at Buffalo Wild Wings & immediately turn left again, driving to the end of the lot facing Silverdale Way to park) and the Bremerton Airport at 8:30 am. Hikers who meet in Silverdale should stop at the airport to connect with the rest of the group. Mountain Goats: The Goats will hike Mount Ellinor. They will depart from Bremerton Airport at 8am. Northenders may meet at the Poulsbo Viking Park & Ride at 7:30am and carpool to the airport. Be prepared for snow and/or ice.
