Monday Hikes, June 20

Remembering Ed Woods Good morning everyone, I have a bit of information to give you about our beloved departed hiker, Ed Woods. There will be a celebration of Ed’s amazing life on Saturday, July 16th. If you knew Ed at all, then you know how special this will be. Here are details: Kitsap Unitarian Universalist Fellowship 4418 Perry Avenue NE Bremerton July 16, 2022 In other news, four Hikers had a wonderful time taking a “mosey up the Dose” this past Monday. So we will continue publishing Hiker destinations on Monday through the summer. Walker and Mountain Goat participation remains strong Here is what is planned for the coming Monday: Walkers: The Walkers are hiking the Hansville Beach to the West starting at Norwegian Point Park (to the right of the Hansville Store). They will carpool in Poulsbo at the North Viking Park & Ride (in the very back), departing at 9:30am or meet at Norwegian Point Park parking lot (address 38800-38952 Hansville Rd NE, Hansville, WA 98340) for a 10:10 am start. Hikers: The Hikers will hike Gold Creek Trail on Green Mountain to Tin Mine. They will depart Poulsbo at 8 am or meet at the Gold Creek Trailhead at 8:45 am Mountain Goats: The Goats will hike Little River with a side trip to the Gregory Mine. They will depart from the Poulsbo Viking Park & Ride at 8am. Walkers: Hansville Beach: https://www.google.com/maps/@47.9152703,-122.5471524,16z?hl=en Hikers: Gold Creek Trail: Park at the trailhead. Just beyond the restroom, there is a sign for Tin Mine trail. In the first half mile, there are 3 trail forks. At the 2nd fork, take the right trail. Follow the Tin Mine signs. The opening to the mine is on your right in about 2 miles. At that point, continue straight when the trail becomes GM 6/Davis trail. Turn left at GM 17 road. Follow it uphill until it joins the Wildcat Trail. You can walk the trail or stay on the road until the Wildcat Trail cuts off to the right to join the Vista Trail. This trail will take you to the Summit. Coming down, take the Vista Trail to the Gold Creek Trail & follow it back to the trailhead/parking lot. Goats' Notes: Tunnel Creek

This was an especially adventuresome hike for me. The trail was snow covered at the little pond below Harrison Lake. I followed footprints well beyond the actual trail up to Harrison Lake. I did not
