Camping Season will be here soon

Good morning everyone, With the possibility of snow in the forecast it seems early, but trust me: camping season will be here before you know it! And now is the time to make your reservations. The Wonderland lottery is already underway. Websites for Washington State Park campgrounds (Dosewallips) and Recreation.gov for Olympic National Park are active. Word on the street is that High Divide is already booked. Get your spots while you can! Here is what is planned for the coming Monday: Walkers: The Walkers will walk Gibbs Lake County Park (Jefferson County). They will carpool in Poulsbo at the North Viking Park & Ride (in the very back), departing at 9:30am or meet at the trailhead parking lot about 10:00am to start the walk. Directions to trailhead: WA-3 North to WA-104 West to WA-19 North to (left) Egg & I Rd to (Right) W Valley Road to (left) Gibbs Lake Road. 110 Gibbs Lake Rd, Chimacum, WA (24 miles). Trailhead parking on the right side of road. Hikers: The hikers will hike Gold Creek trail on Green Mountain to Tin Mine. They will depart Poulsbo P&R at 8 am or they can meet the group at the trailhead at 8:40 am. With a number of recent burglaries reported, be careful to leave nothing of value in your car. Mountain Goats: The Goats will, depending on the severity of the forecast Atmospheric River, either hike Mount Zion from Snow Creek or Notch Pass. They will depart from the Poulsbo Viking Park & Ride at 8am. Microspikes or snowshoes might be helpful for Mount Zion. Walkers: Gibbs Lake County Park: https://www.countyrec.com/documents/gibbslaketrails_expanded.pdf Hikers: Gold Creek, Green Mountain: Directions for the hike: Park at the trailhead. Just beyond the restroom, there is a sign for Tin Mine trail. In the first half mile, there are 3 trail forks. At the 2nd fork, take the right trail. Follow the Tin Mine signs. The opening to the mine is on your right in about 2 miles. At that point, continue straight when the trail becomes GM 6/Davis trail. Turn left at GM 17 road. Follow it uphill until it joins the Wildcat Trail. You can walk the trail or stay on the road until the Wildcat Trail cuts off to the right to join the Vista Trail. This trail will take you to the Summit. Coming down, take the Vista Trail to the Gold Creek Trail & follow it back to the trailhead/parking lot.
