Monday's Hike, February 21

President’s Day!

Good morning everyone, The sun is peeking through the clouds, crocuses (or is that croci?) are popping up everywhere along my neighborhood walks with Bella, daffodils are just about to bud and our last winter Monday holiday is next week. Spring will be here before we know it! A gentle reminder in light of the adventure a few weeks ago: it is a good idea to fill out a Medical Information Form and keep it with you on your hikes. I’ve added the form on our website: https://hikermark1.wixsite.com/kitsapmondayhikers And even though I’ve mentioned it before, I’ll give another shout out to RoadID. They are good folks and make a neat product. My RoadID tag clearly notes that I take blood thinners, although that was pretty obvious. I am healing and hope to be back on the trails very soon. Thank you everyone who dropped a note of support. Here is what is planned for the coming Monday: Walkers: The Walkers are hiking Point No Point County Park beach and perhaps trails. They will carpool in Poulsbo at the North Viking Park & Ride (in the very back), departing at 9:30am or meet at the Point No Point Lighthouse parking lot (address: 9009 NE Point No Point Rd, Hansville, WA 98340) for a 10:00am start. Hikers: The hikers will hike Buck Lake/Hansville Greenway. They will depart from Poulsbo at 8 am or meet the group at the trailhead at 8:30 am. There are two routes: one leading to Hood Canal (follow the #’s 0 thru 16, continue across road & turn right on Pine Pl NE to Hood Canal) or one leading to the Sound (follow #’s 0 to 14, turn left at #14 to # 17 & continue to follow route to Point No Point Park, then return along NE Point No Point Rd , cross Hansville Rd & up hill to sign for trail back to parking lot). The attached map includes both routes marked in yellow. If the hikers in this group have any questions or comments about the hiking in this group, please contact Linda Hahn, louhahn5@gmail.com. Mountain Goats: The Goats will take advantage of the Monday holiday and snowshoe/ski/hike Obstruction Point Road. They will depart from the Poulsbo Viking Park & Ride at 8am. Walkers: Point No Point: https://www.kitsapgov.com/parks/Documents/PointNoPointParkMap2019.pdf Hikers: Buck Lake/Hansville Greenway: https://hikermark1.wixsite.com/kitsapmondayhikers/news-updates Mountain Goats: Obstruction Point Road Snowshoe: https://www.wta.org/go-hiking/hikes/obstruction-point-road-snowshoe
