Happy Valentine’s Day!
Good afternoon, Let’s hope everyone is enjoying our “false spring” weather as the Seattle Times called it and coming up with great plans for Super Bowl and Valentine’s Day (after a hike, of course). Last week’s adventures served as a reminder that a fully stocked First Aid Kit is a really good thing. And teamwork will get you back to the trailhead. Oh yeah, and a helmet might be a good thing to wear if your going to do serious trail work involving tree trunks. Don’t worry, everyone is fine and recovering but somebody (I won’t mention any names), will be sporting stitches for a while and then a nice scar on his head. Here is what is planned for the coming Monday: Walkers: The Walkers will explore Clear Creek Trail in Silverdale from the north end. They will meet at Skate Board Park / Silverdale Rotary Gateway Park (address: 11601 Silverdale Way NW, Silverdale, WA 98383) for a start at 10am. Hikers: The hikers will hike Ueland Tree Farm in Bremerton. Suggested route: Dickerson Trail (outer hiking trail, stay to the right) to Zach’s Lookout. They will depart Poulsbo at 8 am.
Directions: Take Hwy 3 south. Exit at Chico Way. Turn right onto Chico Way. Go one mile, turn right on Northlake Way. In .9 mi, turn right on Libers Lane. Drive ½ mi across railroad tracks to the parking lot. Mountain Goats: The Goats will hike Deer Ridge from the Slab Camp trailhead if the weather permits or Slab Camp if not. They will depart from the Poulsbo Viking Park & Ride at 8am.
