Monday's Hikes, February 7

February has arrived

Good morning everyone, But Punxautawney Phil seem to think we have another 6 weeks of winter ahead of us. It looked like that last week on the Big Creek Loop for the Goats who braved icy trails to hike in the Staircase area last week. Walkers and Hikers had better weather on the Lumberton Loop and Gibbs Lakes trails. We had a great time in Houston, binging on great Tex-Mex & BBQ and catching up with family. It felt wonderful to see people after years of separation (thank you, COVID). Here is what is planned for the coming Monday: Walkers: The Walkers are hiking the Larry Scott/Olympic Discovery Trail from the Cape George Road parking lot. They will carpool in Poulsbo at the North Viking Park & Ride (in the very back), departing at 9:30am or meet at the trailhead (address: 733 Cape George Road, Port Townsend WA 98368. Google Map Coordinates: 48.091939, -122.838295) for a start at about 10:20am. Directions: Hwy 19 to Port Townsend, Left onto S Jacob Miller Rd, Left at first cross street on to S Discovery Rd, Right onto Cape George Rd, Left into Parking Lot. Hikers: The hikers will also hike the Larry Scott Trail, starting from the Milo Curry parking lot. They will depart Poulsbo at 8 am. Driving directions: From Hwy 104, exit onto Hwy 19 toward Pt Townsend. In 11.9 mi, turn left on Four Corners Rd & in a mile or so, cross Hwy 20. In 1.5 mi, turn right onto Milo Curry Rd & shortly you will see sign for Milo Curry trailhead. Mountain Goats: The Goats will hike the Lower Gray Wolf. They will depart from the Poulsbo Viking Park & Ride at 8am.
