Monday's Hikes, January 31

I’m out of town, so keeping this short Good morning everyone, Patti & I are off visiting dear relatives in Texas and Louisiana this week, so I will keep the email short. One bit of news worth reporting: there have been a number of trailhead break-ins and thefts in the past month inSilverdale and on Bainbridge Island. I’m not ready to leave my windows open and a note in the car saying please take what you want but don’t break anything… but I might be getting close! Here is what is planned for the coming Monday: Walkers: The Walkers will be walking the Timberton Loop Trail in Port Ludlow. They will carpool in Poulsbo at the North Viking Park & Ride (in the very back), departing at 9:30 or meet at the trailhead (address: Timberton Drive, Port Ludlow, WA 98365) (Google Maps coordinates: 47.913081, -122.70427) for a 10:00am start. Limited Parking Hikers: The hikers will hike Gibbs Lake trails, around the lake and in the forest. They will depart Poulsbo at 8 am. Driving directions: Take Hwy 104 over Hood Canal bridge. Exit at Hwy 19. After several miles, turn left at Egg & I Rd, drive few miles & at stop sign, cross Center Rd. Turn right on W Valley Rd, and then left at Gibbs Lk Rd (you will see signs for the park). Park at the 2nd lot & start on trails in the forest (suggested: AmeriCorps trail & beyond) followed by the trail around the lake. See map for possibilities. Lunch at the park. Mountain Goats: The Goats will hike Big Creek Loop. They will depart from the Bremerton Airport at 8am. North enders may want to meet at the Viking Park & Ride at 7:30am.
