Monday's Hikes, May 30

Memorial Day

Let’s remember those dear lost children and their grieving families. But my job is to talk about hikes and hiking, so I’ll try to get back to that. Brian Hawkins is a member (leader, actually) with the wonderful Peninsula Wilderness Club. They organize some great adventures and have one coming up. Here is some info on it in case you are looking for a multi-day trip in June: Sun Lakes-Dry Falls Car Camping and Day Hiking

Wednesday June 15 - Saturday June 18

Sun Lakes-Dry Falls is considered a geological wonder just a few miles from Coulee City. Using the SL-DF State Park as a basecamp we will be car camping and day hiking for 2 days in the local area. Hikes will include the Umatilla Rock trail in the park and Northrup Canyon and Old Wagon Road trail about 1 hour drive north. The Steamboat Rock hike will offer amazing views over Banks Lake. All hikes are listed as “easy to moderate” difficulty and 3-7 miles. Shared expenses. See Craig Romano’s/Landers Day Hiking Eastern Washington guide: Hikes #91/92 (3 spaces available).
