Trillium Season! Good morning everyone, It seems like trillium are popping up everywhere right now. I’ve seen lovely photos of them from all three hikes over the past three weeks. The happy white three-leaved blossoms are a sure sign that spring has arrived! Just remember that these are very special and tender plants. While a trillium can live for 25 years, disturbing or picking a flower can permanently damage the rhizome. I didn’t know this (thank Mr. Google), but common names for trillium include wake robin and birthroot. In other news Sandy, Kimberly, Lisa and I decided to postpone our long anticipated first backpacking trip of the year to the Ozette Triangle. There is only a 100% chance of rain overnight and all of tomorrow. We must be getting soft (or smart) at our advancing age! And Happy Mothers Day to you all. Here is what is planned for the coming Monday: Walkers: The Walkers will be going to Anderson Lake State Park. They will carpool in Poulsbo at the North Viking Park & Ride (in the very back), departing at 9:30 or meet at the Anderson Lake Park parking lot (address 1061 Anderson Lake Rd, Chimacum, WA 98325) for a 10:00am start. (Discovery Pass required). Hikers: The Hikers will hike the Dosewallips River Trail. They will depart from the Poulsbo Viking Park & Ride at 8am. Mountain Goats: The Goats will hike Gold Creek Trail from the Lower Dungeness Trailhead. They will depart from the Poulsbo Viking Park & Ride at 8am.
