Another thought for challenging times
Honestly, I have no recollection of where this koan came from. I probably heard it or read it, maybe imagined it. But it has helped me as long as I can remember. So (with a few thoughts)
Some days, the wind blows
Some days in your face, some days at your back.
And some days, it doesn't.
Some days strong, some gently.
But the wind doesn't know you are there. It doesn't blow for your or against you.
You get to choose how to react to the wind, because Some days, the wind blows.
Laurie, Sandy, Dave & I will be hiking through Enchanted Valley and out Dosewallips next week. So your next hiking notice will be a little late, since we don't get out of the backcountry until Thursday. Take care in the meantime. I will take pictures.
