Maybe it is because I am just back from an amazing four day adventure up High Divide and in Seven Lakes Basin, but that cool, fall-like weather on Monday really made my heart sing! We actually had a little drizzle greeting us as we descended back to the Sol Duc parking lot. For you foragers out there, mushrooms will follow. I happened to finish and can highly recommend a fascinating book on the journey: The Mother Tree, by Dr. Suzanne Simard. Professor Simard is the real-life forest scientist on which one of the characters in The Overstory is based. It was a great read and really gave me a lot to think about while sauntering through old growth in the Sol Duc. Here is what is planned for the coming Monday: Walkers: The Walkers are hiking Miller Peninsula State Park. They will carpool in Poulsbo at the North Viking Park & Ride (in the very back), departing at 9:30 am or meet at the trailhead (address Diamond Point Rd, Sequim, WA 98382) for a 10:30 am start. (Discovery Pass required). Hikers: The Hikers will hike Tunnel Creek. They will depart from the Poulsbo Viking Park & Ride at 8am. Mountain Goats: The Goats will hike the Putvin Trail to Lake of the Angels. They will depart from the Poulsbo Viking Park & Ride at 8am.
